WOW #158: Paper Ornament

28 Nov

It’s almost December and that means it’s time to decorate for the holidays!  Today I wanted to share a simple little ornament that would be fun to add to your tree (or it would be cute hanging along a mantle or window ledge too).  And the best part is – it’s easy enough for the whole family to create!

Here’s a step-by-step tutorial:

Step 1:  Choose two coordinating patterned papers.  I chose papers from the aspen frost collection by basicgrey:

Step 2:  Cut eight 1/2″ x 12″ strips from one of the papers:

Step 3: Fold each strip in half.

Step 4:  Now fold each end in toward to center to form a heart shape.  Staple at the bottom to secure.

Step 5:  Punch a circle (anywhere from 1 1/2″ to 3″) from the coordinating paper.

Step 6:  Add a ”puddle” of hot glue to the center of the back of the punched circle. Place two of the hearts at the top and bottom.  Continue adding the hearts until all eight have been placed.

Step 7:  Add another punched circle to this side of the ornament.  Allow the glue to dry.  If you want to add a sticker or another coordinating embellishment to the circle, add it now.

Step 8:  Use a 1/16″ hole punch to add two holes in the top loop – string bakers twine through the holes and knot at the bottom.

Step 9:  Hang and Enjoy!!
